Salary: MPS1–MPS6 (£32,916–£45,352) / UPS1–UPS3 (£47,472–£51,048)
Contract: Full-time, maternity cover (1 academic year)

An ambitious and inclusive mixed secondary school in the heart of Stockport is recruiting a female PE teacher to lead delivery of girls’ PE from September 2025. The role is to cover a planned maternity leave and will run for the full academic year. The successful candidate will join a thriving PE department that promotes sport for all, resilience, health, and wellbeing across the school community.

You will be teaching PE across Key Stage 3 and 4, including core PE, extracurricular sessions, and contributing to GCSE PE delivery depending on experience.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver lessons that engage girls in both practical and theoretical PE

• Support GCSE PE learners with components in fitness testing, analysis, and sports psychology (OCR exam board)

• Run extracurricular clubs and accompany pupils to inter-school competitions

• Promote a positive and active lifestyle across the whole-school setting

• Lead sessions on safeguarding, body confidence, and mental health through PE

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• QTS with PE specialism

• Experience teaching girls’ PE in a school setting

• Confidence in delivering a range of activities (e.g., netball, dance, rounders)

• Ability to inspire disengaged learners or those with low confidence

• Up-to-date First Aid and safeguarding training (can be provided)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
