Experienced SEN Learning Assistant-
Location- Penarth
Salary- £89.38
Contract type- Full time
We are looking for an experienced SEN learning assistant to support teachers in creating an encouraging and nurturing environment for young learners with Additional Learning Needs (ALN). The successful applicant must have experience in working with individuals with ALN, including but not limited to Autism Spectrum condition (ASC), profound, multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), and physical disabilities (PD).
About the role-
- Supporting teachers in the classroom to provide tailored and adaptable learning-approaches that cater for students’ individual needs.
- Working with students aged 3-19 years-old in small groups or on a 1:1 basis.
- Positively contributing to a safe and fulfilling environment where students can express themselves, learn and have fun.
- Providing support to students in an emotional capacity and displaying key characteristics such as empathy, reliability, and adaptability.
About the school-
The school is based in Penarth with a pupil base of 500 approx. ranging from age 3-19 years old. The school caters to all ALN and is a pioneer in the SEN education sector with award-winning innovation in incorporating technology into its teaching curriculum. This advancement has massively improved student participation and communication in lessons as previous barriers have been overcome.
Although the school is fast-paced and high-pressure you will always have unconditional support from your fellow staff.
The school is committed to supporting and developing their learning support assistants just as much as their students, with frequent training evenings and additional courses available to take your skills to the next level.
Who we are looking for-
- Individuals with experience in SEN Educational environments.
- A coherent understanding of how best to support teachers working with students with ALN.
- A willingness and enthusiasm to get involved with the day-to-day of school life.
- An individual who always remains calm and empathetic, especially during high-pressure situations that may arise in/outside the classroom.
- An individual who is reliable, consistent and kind is critical to be successful for this role.
Requirements-
- A Child and Adult Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (we can help with this).
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
- Previous experience in a SEN school.
- Professional references made available upon request.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
