Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for an English Tutor/teaching assistant to work full time starting asap. You will be joining a large secondary school based in Newport. This post will be starting on November 2nd after October half term. The role is based in the NP18 area, the role will include a daily rate of GBP60 – 75 dependant on experience.
The school are looking for a passionate and nurturing tutor/teaching assistant who can work on a full-time basis and can get to the NP18 area. You will be required to work with small groups of pupils as well as on a 1:1 basis assisting with the additional work set by the English department. Due to COVID-19 the school are now changing their focus to catch up lessons for all pupils post half term. This is in line with the Government "Catch Up Programme" which has released funding to support pupils who are behind with their literacy learning.
The school have an alternative unit at the heart of the school that they call the ‘base’ department. This unit is for all students who are undertaking extra tuition and who require additional support. The school prides themselves on the support and guidance given by this unit and the teachers within it. They have multiple different learning areas within including a ICT suite, reading room and interactive whiteboards in every classroom. This unit helps develop the pupils confidence in their ability and help enhance there learning.
The ideal Tutor/Teaching Assistant –
- Will be able to work full time
- Be comfortable working with 1:1 support
- Experience working with children (voluntary, professional or personal)
- Have an English / Literacy background
- Experience with tutoring others
