Job description

TP Tutors is looking for experienced and empathetic English Tutors to work 1:1 with secondary-age pupils in Blyth and across Northumberland—many of whom have been permanently excluded from school or are unable to access mainstream education.

This is a highly rewarding role supporting pupils with a variety of additional needs, including SEND, trauma, and disengagement from learning. You will deliver bespoke tuition sessions to help learners re-engage and progress in English.

Flexible Hours
Hours vary depending on each pupil’s needs. Many placements start with just a few hours per week, but you can increase your working hours by supporting multiple pupils across the region. You choose your schedule—fit tuition around your existing commitments.

What You’ll Do:

  • Deliver high-quality, individualised English tuition

  • Build positive relationships to promote trust and engagement

  • Adapt your teaching style to meet a wide range of learning needs

  • Plan and deliver creative, personalised lessons

  • Monitor progress and report outcomes

  • Work independently while being supported by our team

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified teachers or experienced English tutors

  • Strong background working with pupils with:

    • ASD, ADHD, non-verbal or selectively mute communication

    • Disengaged or emotionally vulnerable students

    • Children in care (including residential settings)

    • Behavioural challenges or mental health needs

  • Calm, patient, and resilient professionals with a flexible approach

  • Confident supporting pupils who may initially be reluctant to learn

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
