Job description
Are you a compassionate and skilled English Teacher looking to make a real impact in the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
We are seeking a dedicated and patient educator to join our post-16 education setting, delivering 1:1 English teaching focused on Functional Skills to learners with a range of SEN profiles.
Our mission is to support students not only in achieving academic success but also in building confidence, independence, and preparing for apprenticeships, college placements, and employment.
Key Responsibilities:

Deliver high-quality 1:1 English sessions focused on Functional Skills (Entry Level to Level 2)

Develop personalised learning plans tailored to each student's needs and goals

Provide academic and pastoral support to encourage progression into further education or employment

Monitor and report on student progress regularly
-
Work collaboratively with a small, supportive team including SEN specialists and vocational trainers
Essential Requirements:
-
Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed, QTS or equivalent)
-
Experience working with post-16 learners and/or learners with SEN
-
Strong understanding of Functional Skills English curriculum
-
Excellent communication and adaptability skills
-
A passion for inclusive education and supporting diverse learners
Desirable:
-
Experience working 1:1 or in alternative provisions
-
Familiarity with EHCPs and SEN strategies
-
Knowledge of vocational pathways and post-16 progression routes

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
