Job description

Do you have a passion for supporting young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) as they take their next step toward the world of work or further education?
We are looking for a committed and adaptable Vocational Teacher to join our specialist post-16 provision. This unique setting supports learners 1:1, guiding them through Functional Skills and developing vocational skills that prepare them for apprenticeships, college courses, and employment.

About the Role:

  • Deliver 1:1 vocational sessions tailored to each learner’s career goals and interests

  • Support learners in building job readiness, employability skills, and practical knowledge

  • Integrate Functional Skills where appropriate to reinforce learning

  • Work closely with SEN professionals to create individualised learning plans

  • Guide students through the transition into apprenticeship schemes or further education

Essential Requirements:

  • Relevant teaching or training qualification (PTLLS, DTLLS, Cert Ed, or equivalent)

  • Experience working with SEN learners, especially in a post-16 environment

  • Strong understanding of vocational pathways and employability skills

  • Patient, supportive, and proactive approach to education

  • Ability to inspire and motivate young people with diverse needs

Desirable:

  • Industry experience in vocational areas (e.g., construction, hospitality, retail, IT, etc.)

  • Knowledge of Functional Skills English and Maths

  • Experience supporting students into apprenticeships or college

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
