Are you an English teacher seeking a new role for next term?

Can you confidently teach English KS3 and KS4?

Teaching personnel are currently looking for an English teacher to join a large secondary school in Newport.  This is a full time role and will be for a minimum of 1 school term, with the opportunity to join the school directly pending a review in February.

  • Start date: ASAP
  • Daily pay rate between GBP138 - GBP180.
  • You will be working Monday - Friday.

The Ideal Candidate:

The school is looking to recruit a passionate English teacher who is looking to make a difference and focussed on getting the best education for the pupils.  The successful candidate will be expected to fully immerse themselves in the school and take on all responsibilities such as planning, assessment and parent's evenings.

Behaviour at the school is good, with a majority of students listening with respect and attention during lessons, however good behaviour management is always desirable for the pockets of low level disruption. It was noted in the last Estyn report that not enough progress is made with KS3 and KS4 students and so it is important that the successful candidate is dedicated to raising standards and improving attainment of their students.  The successful candidate will be expected to have high expectations of their classes, and ensure the students are fully supported to reach these expectations with detailed feedback and consistency in teaching.  You should also be able to challenge the students in their learning to improve progress.

You will be working with a range of dedicated subject practitioners who will be able to offer you a range of support and guidance throughout this role. With a varied curriculum the school has facilitated for all students regardless of their background and abilities.

Requirements for this role:

  • Lesson planning and marking
  • NQT or QTS
  • DBS Check (Assistance will be provided)
  • EWC registration (Assistance will be provided)
