Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)
  • BA Honours Degree in English
  • Enhanced Child Disclosure and Barring Service check desirable
  • Willingness to obtain an Enhanced Child DBS

Skills:

  • Ability to teach from Key Stage 3 to A-Level
  • Experience teaching classes of up to 30 students
  • Impeccable behaviour management skills
  • Strong classroom presence
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Secondary English Curriculum
  • Plan, deliver, and assess excellent English lessons to suit varied abilities

Job Duties:

As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality English lessons to students from Key Stage 3 to A-Level. They must demonstrate strong behaviour management skills, maintain a positive classroom environment, and assess and support students with varied abilities.

Required Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), and a BA Honours Degree in English. An Enhanced Child DBS check is desirable.

Education:

A BA Honours Degree in English is required, along with a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).

Experience:

Experience teaching classes of up to 30 students and a strong understanding of the Secondary English Curriculum are essential.

Knowledge and Skills:

The candidate must have the ability to teach English across different levels, excellent behaviour management skills, and a strong classroom presence. They should also be able to plan, deliver, and assess English lessons to suit students with varied abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

An Enhanced Child Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is preferred but not essential.

Working Conditions:

This is a full-time permanent position based in Birmingham, West Midlands. The English Teacher is expected to work regular school hours and participate in extra-curricular activities as required.
