English Graduate Teaching Assistant – Pathway into Teaching

Location: Greater Manchester
Salary: Up to £100 per day
Start Date: September 2026

Are you an English graduate looking to gain valuable classroom experience before pursuing a career in teaching?

Teaching Personnel are recruiting an English Graduate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school and support pupils across the classroom. This is an excellent opportunity to use your subject knowledge, build confidence working with young people and gain hands-on experience before progressing into teacher training.

The Role

  • Support pupils across English lessons and wider classroom activities
  • Work closely with teachers to help pupils reach their potential
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support where required
  • Help create a positive and engaging learning environment
  • Gain valuable experience of school life and classroom management

The Ideal Candidate

  • A degree in English or a related subject
  • A genuine interest in pursuing a career in education
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Enthusiasm for working with children and young people
  • Previous experience working with young people is desirable but not essential

Pathway into Teaching

This role is ideal for graduates considering a career in teaching. You can gain meaningful classroom experience, develop your confidence and explore teaching before committing to a PGCE or teacher training programme.

With the right experience, there may also be opportunities to progress into Cover Supervisor or teacher training pathways.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
