Job description

English & Maths Tutor – SK1 Area

Location: Stockport (SK1) and surrounding areas
Hours: School hours, Monday–Friday
Flexible / Part-Time / Term-Time
Competitive hourly pay rates

We are currently recruiting experienced and dedicated English & Maths Tutors to provide 1:1 support to pupils in home or school settings across the SK1 area.

This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people who may require additional educational support due to gaps in learning, SEN/SEND needs, anxiety, school avoidance, or other barriers to education. You will deliver personalised tuition sessions tailored to each pupil’s individual needs, helping them build confidence and achieve positive academic outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and tailored 1:1 English and Maths tuition sessions
  • Adapt teaching methods and resources to suit individual learning needs
  • Support pupils academically, emotionally, and socially
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, families, and schools
  • Encourage confidence, engagement, and independence in learning
  • Monitor progress and maintain accurate session records
  • Create a safe and supportive learning environment

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 years teaching or tutoring experience within the UK
  • Strong knowledge of English and Maths curriculum
  • Experience working with children or young people
  • Excellent communication and behaviour management skills
  • Patient, reliable, and flexible approach
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Driving licence and access to transport preferred

Desirable Experience

  • SEN/SEND experience
  • Experience supporting pupils with Autism (ASD), ADHD, SEMH, or anxiety
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or tutoring background
