Pay Rate: £89.38 per day
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Contract: Full Academic Year
⭐About the Role
Teaching Personnel is seeking an Engagement Coach to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Newport, supporting pupils aged 11–16.
In this position, you will play an important role in supporting pupils who need additional help to access learning. You will work closely with the school’s Additional Learning Needs (ALN) team, supporting students with a range of needs including learning difficulties, social and emotional challenges, and behavioural needs.
Working alongside teachers, the SEN/ALN team, and pastoral staff, you will help create a calm, structured, and nurturing environment where pupils feel supported and able to thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing targeted 1:1 support for pupils needing academic or emotional assistance
- Offering small‑group and general classroom support
- Encouraging positive engagement and helping pupils regulate emotions
- Helping maintain a safe, supportive classroom environment
⭐Desired Experience/Qualifications
We welcome applicants with experience in any of the following areas:
- Teaching Assistant or classroom support roles
- Studying in a relevant field
- Sports coaching, Behaviour support, mentoring, or youth work
- SEN, SEMH, or Additional Learning Needs (ALN) support
- Education, care, mental health, or criminal justice environments
✅Requirements (or willingness to obtain independently)
Applicants must hold, or be willing to apply for:
- Aged 18+
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
- Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service
- Level 2 Safeguarding training
- Two professional references covering 24 months

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
