Education Support Assistant

Teaching Personnel are recruiting dedicated SEN Education Support Assistants to work across a variety of specialist schools in the Stockport and Tameside area. These are rewarding, hands‑on roles where no two days are the same, and every day you help change a child’s learning experience for the better.

About the Role

As an Education Support Assistant, you’ll be a vital part of the classroom, supporting pupils with a range of needs including ASC, ADHD, communication and sensory needs, physical disabilities and learning difficulties.

Your day‑to‑day may include:

✅ Supporting pupils in the classroom alongside the class teacher

✅ Delivering 1:1 or small‑group support tailored to individual needs

✅ Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour and sensory processing

✅ Helping pupils navigate routines, transitions and learning activities

✅ Using creative and adaptive strategies to make learning accessible

✅ Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applicants from education, care, support work, youth work, and psychology or education graduates.

You’ll be a great fit if you have:

✔ Experience working with children or young people (SEN experience desirable)

✔ A calm, patient and nurturing approach

✔ Confidence supporting behaviour, communication and sensory needs

✔ Reliability, resilience and a proactive mindset

✔ Availability Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm

✔ An Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service) or willingness to apply

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
