Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting on behalf of a mainstream primary school based in suth Birmingham for an experienced Well-Being Officer / Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to start immediately. This is a key safeguarding role providing urgent cover within the school’s primary provision before transitioning into a wider whole-school safeguarding position after the Easter break.
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced safeguarding professional who can quickly integrate into a school environment and confidently manage safeguarding responsibilities from day one.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will initially provide cover within the primary phase while the current Primary Lead is absent. Following the Easter break, responsibilities will expand to support safeguarding across the wider school as another operational DSL undergoes a planned medical procedure.
You will work alongside another DSL, but must be confident managing safeguarding responsibilities independently when required.
Key Responsibilities

Act as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) within the school

Support the well-being and safeguarding of vulnerable pupils

Liaise with external agencies, including the local authority, council, and safeguarding services

Support pupils with additional needs and EHCPs
-
Maintain safeguarding records and ensure appropriate follow-up actions

Work collaboratively with school leadership and safeguarding teams
Requirements

Valid DSL accreditation (essential)
-
Previous experience working as a DSL or in a safeguarding leadership role within a school
-
Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and statutory guidance
-
Experience working with vulnerable children and young people
-
Familiarity with EHCP processes and multi-agency working
-
Ability to work proactively and pick up responsibilities quickly

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
