Job description

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) secondary school in Stockport, seeking an experienced and passionate Design and Technology Teacher to join their team from September.

About the Role:
This is a full-time teaching position, delivering the full Design and Technology curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, practical lessons that inspire creativity while supporting pupils with a range of complex needs, including emotional and behavioural challenges.

The role will require flexibility, patience, and a strong understanding of how to adapt teaching to meet diverse learner needs. You will have access to specialist facilities and be part of a supportive and experienced team focused on improving outcomes for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach across the entire D&T curriculum, including resistant materials, product design, graphics, and food technology.

  • Plan, prepare and deliver creative and differentiated lessons that engage SEMH learners.

  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively and positively.

  • Work closely with support staff and the wider pastoral team to ensure the individual needs of students are met.

  • Contribute to the school’s inclusive and nurturing ethos.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification.

  • Proven experience teaching Design and Technology at secondary level.

  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs or within an alternative provision setting is highly desirable.

  • Strong behaviour management skills and a compassionate, resilient approach.

  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet varied learning styles and needs.

Location: Stockport
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-time, long-term (potential for permanent)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
