Deputy Manager - Early Years
Job description
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Deputy Nursery Manager to join a well-established and supportive Early Years nursery in the WN2 area. This is a fantastic opportunity for a strong Early Years practitioner looking to step into a leadership role within a high-quality setting.
The Role
Working closely with the Nursery Manager, you will support the day-to-day running of the setting while ensuring a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment for children aged 0–5 years.
You will also act as a lead practitioner, modelling outstanding practice and supporting the development of the wider nursery team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the management and daily operations of the nursery
- Deputising for the Nursery Manager when required
- Delivering and supporting staff with the EYFS curriculum
- Supervising, mentoring and supporting nursery practitioners
- Acting as a key person, monitoring children’s learning and development
- Ensuring the nursery meets Ofsted and safeguarding requirements
- Building strong partnerships with parents, carers and external professionals
- Supporting with staff appraisals, supervisions and training
- Assisting with the organisation of resources and the overall quality of provision
Requirements
- Level 3 qualification in Childcare or equivalent (minimum requirement)
- Strong knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
- At least 1 year experience in a senior practitioner / room leader role
- Experience supporting children aged 0–5 years
- Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
Desirable:
- Paediatric First Aid
- Safeguarding training
- Food Hygiene certificate
- Additional leadership or early years training

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
