Deputy Manager - Early Years

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Deputy Nursery Manager to join a well-established and supportive Early Years nursery in the WN2 area. This is a fantastic opportunity for a strong Early Years practitioner looking to step into a leadership role within a high-quality setting.

The Role

Working closely with the Nursery Manager, you will support the day-to-day running of the setting while ensuring a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment for children aged 0–5 years.

You will also act as a lead practitioner, modelling outstanding practice and supporting the development of the wider nursery team.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the management and daily operations of the nursery
• Deputising for the Nursery Manager when required
• Delivering and supporting staff with the EYFS curriculum
• Supervising, mentoring and supporting nursery practitioners
• Acting as a key person, monitoring children’s learning and development
• Ensuring the nursery meets Ofsted and safeguarding requirements
• Building strong partnerships with parents, carers and external professionals
• Supporting with staff appraisals, supervisions and training
• Assisting with the organisation of resources and the overall quality of provision

Requirements

• Level 3 qualification in Childcare or equivalent (minimum requirement)
• Strong knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
• At least 1 year experience in a senior practitioner / room leader role
• Experience supporting children aged 0–5 years
• Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)

Desirable:

• Paediatric First Aid
• Safeguarding training
• Food Hygiene certificate
• Additional leadership or early years training
