Cover Supervisor

A secondary school in Nelson are seeking Cover Supervisors to work on a part-time, day to day basis. These are ad-hoc requirements where the school may call on the morning to request cover or the prior evening for the next day.

Details of the role:

  • Cover Supervisor
  • Work will be set by the absent Class Teacher, you will be expected to hand this out to the students and ensure they are getting on with the work
  • You will not be expected to be a specialist within the subject, however Cover Supervisors will be expected to use their initiative and support students where possible
  • You will need good classroom management skills
  • It is your responsibility to make sure the classroom is left tidy afterwards

If called on the morning, you may receive this anytime between 07:15am - 08:45am. Dependant on the time called, you will usually be expected to be at school before 09:00am. Working hours are usually until 3:15/3:30pm, as this is the end of the school day.

Rate of pay is ÂŁ9.50 an hour (based on a 6 hour day).

To be suitable for this role, you must have a genuine interest in education and working with young people. Although experience is not always essential, it is desirable. You should be conscientious, approachable and able to use your own initiative.
