As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in ensuring learning continues effectively in the absence of teaching staff. You will be delivering pre-prepared lessons across a broad range of subjects—including PE. A keen interest in sport or coaching experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

This role offers valuable classroom experience for anyone considering a future career in teaching. Previous Cover Supervisors have successfully used this opportunity as a stepping stone into teacher training.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and manage classes during teacher absences, ensuring students stay on task

• Support students with work set by the teacher or head of department

• Provide clear feedback to teachers on student behaviour, engagement, and progress

• Maintain a calm and purposeful classroom environment

• Promote and safeguard the welfare of all children and young people in accordance with school policies

We are looking for someone who:

• Is motivated, reliable, and confident working with secondary school pupils

• Has excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to supporting learning

• Can adapt to teaching a range of subjects with enthusiasm and professionalism

• Has an interest in education—especially beneficial for aspiring teachers or those with experience in coaching or youth work
