Cover Supervisor - Rochdale

To cope with planned and preplanned absences this academic year we have an open vacancy for a large school in Rochdale. This is a full time position with interviews starting immediately and will involve covering a wide variety of subjects dependent on the needs of the school on the day. The successful candidate will have previous experience working in a secondary school, either as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant or in another teaching related role. We also welcome applications from graduates seeking a career in education in the future or from anybody who has worked in a similar role supporting young people.

You will be working in a large secondary school in the Shawclough area of Rochdale with state of the art facilities and a recent refurbishment, providing excellent teaching and learning provisions throughout. The school is rated 'good' by Ofsted with good behaviour throughout where the pupils rise to the high expectations of the Head teacher and the rest of the staff, promoting a positive learning and teaching environment.

  • Full time position working as a Cover Supervisor at an Ofsted graded 'good' school in the Shawclough area of Rochdale
  • Providing support in the absence of teachers for a variety of subjects, dependent on the needs of the school on the day. You may also be required to help the school in a support capacity, for example working on a 1:1 and group basis in your specialist subject area
  • You will be paid a competitive wage, dependent on your qualifications, experience and your role within the school
  • Opportunity for further development with a strong support structure within the school, as well as access to Teaching Personnel's further development and CPD courses within partner schools around Manchester

"We require a passionate Cover Supervisor to join our cover team this academic year to help assist us with planned and absences when the need arises. we would prefer an experienced Cover Supervisor, however we would accept applicants from Teaching Assistants or recent graduates seeking further experience before considering a career in Education" - Charge of Supply

Working alongside the relevant departments within the school you will have multiple different responsibilities as a Cover Supervisor, including:

  • Covering the absence of teaching staff and supporting pupils by delivering pre-set lesson plans
  • Supporting the pupils with any queries they have any assisting them in achieving their potential by offering good direction and advice
  • Ensuring the schools behaviour policy is enforced through effective behaviour management techniques
  • Reporting on pupils progress back to teachers and parents, assisting in implementing development plans for the pupil
