Cover Supervisor

Date posted : 26/07/19
£62 - £85 per day

Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

  • Do you want to gain a route into teaching?
  • Would you like first hand teaching experience before applying for your PGCE?
  • Have you graduated with a 2:2 degree or higher?

If so, Teaching Personnel may be able to help you begin your journey into teaching. Teaching Personnel are the UKs leading educational recruitment agency. We liaise with Primary, Secondary and Special Educational Needs Schools across Hull and Lincolnshire.

We are currently recruiting fresh, new graduates who are considering a career in teaching. We believe it is advantageous to gain first hand, paid experience before committing to completing a teaching qualification. We therefore offer Cover Supervisor positions. As a Cover Supervisor you will be required to deliver pre-prepared lessons to students across KS3 - KS4 with the occasional KS5 class depending on your previous experience. You will cover classes in absence of the class teacher which may be due to sickness, training, maternity leave etc.

This is an excellent opportunity to build your confidence and gain experience delivering lessons to a group of students. Classes often vary between 20 - 30. As a Cover Supervisor you won't be required to plan or mark lessons, just deliver the work set. You will also need to be confident to implement and adhere to the schools behaviour policies and keep pupil discipline under control.

To be successful in this role you must therefore have:

  • A degree with a 2:2 classification or higher
  • Confidence to lead classroom lessons and implement behaviour policies
  • Flexibility to work across different schools in Hull
  • An outgoing personality with ability to build good relationships with students and staff

It is desired that you have:

  • Previous experience working/volunteering within an educational setting
  • A full valid UK driving licence with access to own vehicle
  • A subject specialism in English, Maths, Science, Humanities, Sports or Languages

This post is subject to an Enhanced Child Only DBS check and must be registered with the Update Service. This DBS can be applied for during the registration process. Additionally, we will also need to approach most recent references.
