Job description

As a Cover Supervisor, you will step into lessons during teacher absences, delivering pre-prepared work to pupils and ensuring positive classroom behaviour. While you are not required to plan lessons or formally assess pupils, you play a crucial role in maintaining learning momentum, supporting students, and upholding school expectations.

Cover Supervisors are vital in ensuring minimal disruption to pupils' education. You will work across a range of subjects and age groups, providing consistency and confidence to learners during staff absences. Whether covering short-term sickness, training days, or planned leave, you will play a key part in the school's daily success.

Key Responsibilities:
✔️ Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff
✔️ Deliver pre-set lesson materials and ensure pupils remain on task
✔️ Promote positive behaviour and uphold the school's behaviour policies
✔️ Provide support and guidance to pupils throughout the lesson
✔️ Report back to teaching staff regarding pupil progress or behaviour concerns
✔️ Respond to questions and provide encouragement to promote student engagement
✔️ Assist with administrative tasks or lunchtime duties as required

Requirements:
✅ Confident classroom presence with excellent communication skills
✅ Ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively and fairly
✅ Flexibility to work across different year groups and subject areas
✅ Reliable, punctual, and professional approach to work
✅ Strong organisational skills and ability to follow instructions
✅ Experience working with young people, ideally in a school, coaching, or youth setting (desirable but not essential)
✅ Degree, TA qualification, or equivalent experience is advantageous but not required

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
