Job description

A mainstream secondary school in Amesbury, Wiltshire is seeking a dedicated and confident Cover Supervisor to join their team on a full-time basis from September 2025. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to gain valuable experience in education and make a real difference in a supportive and engaging school environment.

As a Cover Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering pre-prepared lessons in the absence of the classroom teacher, maintaining a positive learning environment and ensuring students remain on task. This role plays a crucial part in the day-to-day running of the school and offers hands-on experience in classroom management across a range of subjects.

This position is particularly well-suited to graduates, aspiring teachers, or individuals considering a future in education. It provides excellent insight into the workings of a school and would be ideal for someone planning to apply for a PGCE or teacher training programme in the future.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have strong communication and organisational skills

  • Be confident managing classroom behaviour

  • Show enthusiasm for supporting students’ learning

  • Have previous experience working with young people (desirable but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
