Cover Supervisor
Job description
A forward-thinking secondary school in Salisbury is seeking a confident, enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join their team on a full-time basis from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and is looking to make a positive impact in a school environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering pre-set lessons across a range of subjects in the absence of the regular class teacher. While subject specialism is not required, the ability to maintain a positive and focused classroom environment is essential. This role would suit a graduate considering a future in teaching, an experienced Cover Supervisor, or someone with strong classroom experience looking for a new challenge.

Key responsibilities include:

Supervising classes during teacher absence and ensuring students remain on task

Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies

Supporting students with their learning where appropriate

Providing feedback to teaching staff after lessons

Working closely with the wider staff team to uphold the school's values and expectations
The ideal candidate will:

Have experience working with secondary-aged students, either in a school setting or similar environment

Be confident in managing behaviour and maintaining a calm, productive atmosphere in the classroom

Be adaptable, reliable, and able to think on their feet

Have strong communication and organisational skills
-
Show a genuine interest in supporting young people’s education and wellbeing

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
