THE SCHOOL:

The Bridge Academy was founded in 2007 and is located in Hackney. The school has nine hundred students within the years seven to thirteen. The strong partnership with UBS affords students a wide range of opportunities for example a diverse curriculum and extra curricular activities.

The school has cultivated a culture of high standards and achievement with music and maths now taught as specialist subjects. Ofsted wrote in their 2018 report that there is strong evidence that the leadership team "have continued to raise the achievement (of Pupils)…..regardless of their background" and furthermore "the school is in the top 12% of schools nationally for progress overall".

THE ROLE:

Teaching Personnel have a strong relationship the Bridge Academy and supply cover teachers on a regular basis. As a cover supervisor, you will need to have a confident and flexible approach towards teaching. The role will include supervising whole classes during the absence of the teacher, responding to questions, assisting pupils in undertaking set activities and maintaining order. In most classes being covered work has already been set.

Cover supervisors are valued and highly regarded, this position would suit a graduate with a strong academic background and a passion for working with children, or someone with previous experience within secondary schools.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Effective communication skills: written and verbal. Able to communicate effectively with a range of people in a variety of contexts
  • Possess the resilience and stamina required to cope with the demands of the post
  • Shows initiative and a positive and flexible response to change. Able to accommodate the changing needs of the school and children
  • A desire and ability to improve own performance through reflection and appropriate professional development.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
