This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated team of specialist teachers and subject/learning support assistants in an established department. As part of a forward thinking Converter Academy, the Technology department is committed to providing first class Computing education to all learners across the 11-18 age.

There are ten dedicated IT suites used for the teaching of discrete and subject-based Computing lessons and the school boasts several new fully networked workstations and independent study areas for pupils in the sixth form block and library. All of the main IT suites have an Interactive Whiteboard, hardware and software to support innovative teaching and learning.

Teaching and learning in Computing at the academy is supported by a specialist technical team and the school has recently implemented a state-of-the-art technical support system across our hard-wired and wireless network.
Pupils currently follow a bespoke Computing curriculum across years 7 to 9 and have the options of studying GCSE Computing or GCSE ICT in Years 10 and 11. At Sixth Form we offer A Level Computing and Applied ICT. Computing is a popular GCSE option at the academy. The person appointed will have the opportunity to teach Computing at AS and A Level, together with Applied ICT. They should be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of programming languages, such as C, Java or Python. Computing as a subject is undergoing an exciting period of change. The leadership of the department is embracing the opportunities that this presents in terms of curriculum design and the opportunity to deliver challenging lessons that engage pupils with complex problems.

The successful candidate will be subject to a DBS check and other vetting checks.
