Job description

Make a Difference in Prestwich (M25) – One-to-One Tutors Needed in Community Settings

£25–£30 per hour | Weekday, school-time hours | Sessions held in local libraries or public venues

Looking for a rewarding role in education without returning to the classroom full-time? This opportunity might be the perfect fit.

We’re currently recruiting passionate and reliable tutors to support children in Prestwich (M25) who are not in mainstream school. These young people may be out of education due to health issues, anxiety, special educational needs, or other personal circumstances – and they need someone who can help them re-engage with learning in a calm, supportive environment.

Instead of traditional classrooms, sessions take place in welcoming, public settings such as libraries or community spaces, creating a relaxed and neutral environment that helps learners feel more at ease.

What the role involves:

  • One-to-one tuition in core subjects, usually English and Maths

  • Tailoring lessons to meet the learner’s level and pace

  • Supporting pupils who may have missed large parts of school

  • Fostering confidence, motivation, and a love of learning

  • Working flexibly, with availability during school hours (8am–4pm)

Who this would suit:

This role is ideal for former teachers, teaching assistants, experienced tutors, or anyone with a solid background in education who wants to make a real impact outside the pressures of a full classroom.

You’ll be a great fit if you:

  • Have experience working with children or young people

  • Are confident delivering lessons at a primary or lower secondary level

  • Can adapt your approach to meet individual needs

  • Are patient, approachable and able to build trust

  • Understand or have experience working with learners with SEN or emotional barriers

What we offer:

  • £25–£30 per hour, based on experience

  • Local placements in Prestwich libraries or nearby venues

  • Flexible working hours to fit around your schedule

  • Weekly pay and a dedicated consultant to support you

  • Access to optional CPD and training resources

If you're looking for meaningful work that fits around your life and gives something back to your community, we’d love to hear from you.
