Community Teacher | High Wycombe Area
Full-Time | Term-Time Only | Permanent | Competitive Salary (Based on Experience)

We are seeking a dedicated and flexible Community Teacher to work with children and young people in the High Wycombe area who are currently unable to access mainstream education. This unique and rewarding role involves delivering personalised learning in alternative settings—such as pupils’ homes, community centres, libraries, or virtual platforms—to support academic, social, and emotional progress.
The Role

Plan and deliver tailored lessons, primarily across core subjects, for pupils with a variety of needs including medical conditions, anxiety, SEN, or school refusal.

Work 1:1 or with small groups in community settings or through online teaching.

Build strong, trusting relationships to help re-engage learners with education.

Liaise with families, schools, external professionals, and the local authority to ensure effective support.

Record progress, set personalised goals, and contribute to EHCP reviews where appropriate.
✅ The Ideal Candidate

Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

Has experience working with vulnerable learners, SEN, or those with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

Is highly adaptable, self-motivated, and confident working independently.

Possesses excellent interpersonal, organisational, and safeguarding awareness.

Is committed to promoting pupil wellbeing, resilience, and positive outcomes.
Desirable:

Experience with home or hospital tuition, outreach work, or alternative provision.

Knowledge of trauma-informed practice or mental health support strategies.

Access to a vehicle and willingness to travel locally (mileage reimbursed).

Location: High Wycombe and surrounding areas
Salary: MPS/UPS (depending on experience) + potential travel allowance

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
