Teaching Personnel are working with a specialist SEMH School in Sunderland to recruit a Teaching Assistant on a full time basis. The role will commence as soon as possible from application, with strong potential for a permanent contract after the initial term placement for the right candidate.
The position will involve working with a small group of students across Key Stages 3 and 4 with varying Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties. The candidate will need to be confident in managing challenging behaviour as well as being enthusiastic and a positive role model for the students! You will be working with children from a mix of backgrounds, including children in looked after care. You will benefit from a Team Teach qualification in this role although it is not mandatory, experience handling challenging behaviour is key. You will play a large role in the monitoring of students progress and development both in terms of their academic and personal achievements.
Ideally for this role, you will have a teaching assistant qualification however this is not mandatory and we welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds including social and youth work. You will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced special needs teachers as well as specialist teaching assistants.
