Catering Assistant
Location: Blackburn
Hours: 9:00am – 2:45pm, Monday to Friday
Pay: £13.75 per hour
Contract: Temporary to Permanent
We are currently seeking a reliable and hardworking Catering Assistant to join a Secondary Alternative Provision in Blackburn. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with catering experience who is passionate about supporting young people and being part of a supportive school environment.
About the Setting:
The school caters to students aged 11–16 who have faced challenges in mainstream education. The provision offers a structured and supportive environment focused on engagement, personal development, and tailored learning.
As a Catering Assistant, you will play an important role in the daily running of the school kitchen, helping to provide nutritious meals and maintain a clean, safe food environment for both students and staff.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist with the preparation and serving of meals
-
Ensure the kitchen and dining areas are kept clean and hygienic
-
Support stock control and food storage procedures
-
Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations
-
Work as part of a small, friendly team to deliver quality service

Interact positively and professionally with staff and students
Requirements:
-
Previous experience in a catering or kitchen environment
-
Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (preferred)
-
Ability to work efficiently and follow instructions

Friendly, flexible, and reliable
-
An understanding of safeguarding in a school environment (training will be provided)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
