Are you looking for work in the care sector?

Can you use hoist equipment and/or provide personal care?

Would you like to work with children?

I am currently working with an outstanding SEN school in South Croydon, which provides a unique learning experience for physically and mentally disabled children, including many who are wheelchair users. The school employs agency staff on a flexible bank staff basis, which means you will be called for work when work is available and when you are free to work. This kind of work is suitable for candidates looking for part time work, or candidates who already have a part time job and are looking for extra hours.

The details:

  • You will be offered up to 5 days per week working in the school across both primary and secondary classes – this could be full days or half days at a time
  • You will provide support to the class teacher, which will include providing personal care for the students, aiding their sensory, communication and academic development, also working alongside speech and language therapists and occupational therapists
  • The personal care required is a large part of the job, ensuring that toileting and changing is carried out efficiently and sensitively, so you must be confident and comfortable with this
  • You will use hoist equipment to move children in and out of their wheelchairs – experience of this is desirable, although you will never hoist children on your own as a member of agency staff, there will always be a permanent member of staff with you
  • You will be invited to take part in CPD training offered to the whole school
  • The work is on offer term time only
  • A full day is paid at £70-£80 per day

The school is purpose built and has a variety of dark and light sensory rooms, a swimming pool for hydrotherapy and large, wheelchair friendly outdoor spaces for outdoor learning, gardening and other activities. The school has an excellent reputation in the local area and the school has the full support from parents/carers. They put on an excellent Christmas show each year, amongst other whole school events.

Teaching Personnel will pay your employer national insurance contribution and offer a pension scheme, into which we also pay a contribution for you. We can also help you to apply for a permanent role with the school later on in the year, if you like working there and would like to apply.
