Could you support Hearing Impaired students with British Sign Language (BSL)? Are you a skilled and passionate Communication Support Worker with experience working in a school environment? An Ofsted 'good' SEN school in Addlestone is seeking a dedicated individual to join their inclusive and dynamic team. If you hold an Institute of British Sign Language (IBSL) or Signature registered BSL Level 2 qualification or above, we want to hear from you!

Job Description: As a Communication Support Worker with BSL, you will play a vital role in facilitating effective communication for students with hearing impairments or communication difficulties. Your main responsibilities will include:

  1. Providing support to students during classes and various school activities, ensuring they have full access to the curriculum.
  2. Assisting in the delivery of educational materials through sign language interpretation or other appropriate communication methods.
  3. Collaborating with teachers and other support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  4. Encouraging the development of students' communication skills and independence.
  5. Building rapport and trust with students, fostering a nurturing and respectful relationship.

Requirements:

  • Institute of British Sign Language (IBSL) or Signature registered BSL Level 2 qualification or above.
  • Experience working in a school or educational setting, particularly with students who have special educational needs, is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt your support to suit individual student needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students overcome communication barriers.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and collaborate effectively with teachers and other support staff.
