Behaviour Teaching Assistant- Tameside
Teaching Personnel are seeking a Behaviour Teaching Assistant to work at our partner secondary school in Tameside from September. This new Behaviour Teaching Assistant position represents an exciting opportunity for someone with previous experience of challenging disengaged behaviour to work in a secondary school environment.
The incoming Behaviour Teaching Assistant will initially join the school until Christmas so that suitability for the role can be determined.
Specific job duties-
- To promote positive behaviour across all year groups
- To be the assigned 'key-worker' for identified pupils
- To challenge any disengaged behaviour through the positive behaviour management strategies
The role-
Due to additional funding being allocated to the pastoral department, our partner school wish to add a Behaviour Teaching Assistant to their team. This role will specifically focus on promoting positive behaviour across all year groups. This will initially be with the new Year 7 cohort to help support them with their transition to secondary school. The incoming Behaviour Teaching Assistant will also be assigned identified pupils and be responsible for their progress within the school. This will include making sure they attend school, are on time for lessons and are engaging within them.
Consequently, previous experience of working with 11-16 year olds in an educational capacity is essential as is the ability to build rapport with pupils quickly. You must also be able to counter-act any apathy to learning and challenge any disaffected behaviour in a calm and confident manner.
The school-
The school is smaller than the average size within the local area with just over 700 pupils on roll. The large percentage of pupils who attend the school are from White British backgrounds. At present, the school have a higher than average proportion of pupils who require the pupil premium funding.
It is located within Tameside making it only a short drive away from the surrounding areas of Ashton-under-Lyne, Dukinfield and Stalybridge. It is also easily accessible to the areas of Hadfield and Glossop via the A57 and A6018. There are also direct bus links to the school from Ashton-under-Lyne.
How to apply-
The SENCO and Inclusion Manager are looking to meet with suitable candidates at the earliest convenience. Therefore for immediate consideration, please submit your full CV to Paul via the link below.
