Role :Behaviour teaching assistant, 1:1 support
Location: Dagenham
Pay: £65-£85 daily rate PAYE
We are currently seeking an experienced teaching assistant to work in a 'Good' rated , challenging special needs school in the Dagenham area , this role will be on a full time basis to start immediately . The school works with the Local Education Authority (LEA) in Barking and Dagenham to support the most vulnerable children in the local area who have social emotional and behavioural needs across KS1- KS4. Pupils who attend here have been unable to maintain a placement in mainstream school or have been excluded from a PRU, this is the last resort for these pupils and the school use a nurturing , therapeutic approach to get the best out of their education.
For this particular role, you will be working 1:1 with a Year 7 pupil who has challenging emotional, behavioural needs, he responds to a male support and displays communication difficulties as well as volatile behaviours in the form of verbal or physical outbursts . Due to a lack of interest in his education there is integration for the pupil in group activities to support his social and communication needs . The successful candidate will be flexible, resilient, a positive role model and has previous experience and understanding working with complex behavioural needs.
1:1 Behaviour Support Assistant:
- Minimum 6 months previous experience working with challenging behavioural needs
- Will consider applications from : mental health support workers , youth workers and sports coaches with transferable skills
- Able to provide 1:1 support tailored to pupils needs
- Confident , positive , pro active personality
- Local to Dagenham and must able to commit to travelling daily
- Monday to Friday 8.15am to 4.30 during term time
- Potential for permanent contract
