Behaviour Support Worker

Teaching Personnel's SEN branch are recruiting for a Behaviour Support Worker to work in a highly regarded Pupil Referral Unit in Bedfordshire. The school caters for students who have been excluded from mainstream education due to challenging behaviour and social and emotional mental health difficulties. Students may also present additional needs such as ADHD/Mild ASD/Asperger's etc. As a behaviour support worker you'll be working with students with challenging behaviour helping them to engage with education and take their next steps in life.

The successful Teaching Assistants will have experience supporting challenging behaviour and/or other complex needs, have strong classroom and behaviour management and have patience and an empathetic approach. You will be resilient, show initiative and believe you have the potential to deliver outstanding outcomes.

To be considered as a Behaviour Support Worker in a PRU role you must:

• Excellent approach to supporting vulnerable young learners
• Have the ability to maintain a positive learning experience
• Have a genuine desire to become part of a committed team of school staff
• Be non-judgemental and open minded

Preferred but not essential experience:

• Previous school/ Secondary experience preferable
• Previous experience as a special needs teaching assistant
• Willing to adapt to a new challenge everyday
• Supportive and open minded approach to working with special needs children
• Have strong communication skills
