Are you looking for a new challenge?

Are you passionate about working with young people, particularly those who have become disengaged from education or may struggle socially and emotionally?

The SENCO of a Comprehensive Secondary School in Preston are seeking a Teaching Assistant to support the needs of their students with Autism, Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties, ADHD and associated learning / behavioural difficulties, in a secondary setting.

We are looking for a reliable, resilient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant, who has a desire to work with children who have challenging behaviour. You will be optimistic, approachable and creative, with the ability to build rapport quickly in order to engage the young people in the classroom.

The school will consider candidates with varying experience including sports coaching, youth work, Alternative provisions, PRU's, SEN Schools etc. but you must be confident in working alongside young people who can express challenging behaviours.

The school its self is a high-achieving and over-subscribed secondary school, where pupils make outstanding progress in all subjects, especially in English.

You must have good literacy and numeracy skills and excellent communication skills as the school pride themselves on an exciting and stimulating curriculum that engages all children and allows them to meet the individual needs of each and every child. This is a caring school where each child is valued as an individual and their achievements, big or small, are recognised and celebrated. All staff work hard to provide the best for the children, their families and the community.

Working hours will be 8:30 - 3:30pm, 3 days per week and your role will be on a temp-perm basis, meaning that following a probationary period, provided you work hard and make a positive impact on the class, you will become a permanent member of staff!
