Our Specialist SEN branch, are currently working in partnership with an Independent Special School based in Penarth. This independent special school that offers day and residential placements for students aged 7 – 19.  The students have difficulty learning as a result of their emotional, social and behavioural difficulties in addition to Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Asperger’s Syndrome. This can include attachment disorders & mental health difficulties. 

What do you need to know about the school? 

They help develop young people’s emotional wellbeing and social skills.  The aim is to develop students to be effective learners so they are able to cope better with the things they find challenging.  They do this through a focus on establishing positive and healthy relationships, emotional wellbeing and developing social skills.  They are currently on the look out for 2 additional teaching assistants to work through us initially with the likelihood of a permanent contract after a specific amount of time. This is an ideal opportunity for anyone who is fancying a change in career or if you have a keen interest in behaviour and/or psychology.

The school have an in depth induction process where they will go through the relevant policies and procedures in order for you to have the right amount of knowledge to start your new adventure. The school are even willing to put you through their own behaviour management training which is a great opportunity for you.

The Ideal Candidate

Worried you haven't got specific experience - do not panic - the school are big believers in the right fit personality wise. The ideal candidate for this school needs to have resilience in abundance, humour & the ability to use your initiative in challenging situations that may arise. Key characteristics of the ideal candidate for this school is anyone who has an interest in supporting challenging behaviour within an alternative provision, psychology graduates and sports orientated candidates.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
