Teaching Personnel is recruiting a Behaviour Support Officer for a secondary school starting this September. This role is perfect for recent graduates or individuals interested in youth support work looking to develop a career in education.
About the Role
As a Behaviour Support Officer at a Cardiff Secondary school, you will play a key role in supporting students with challenging behaviour, promoting positive behaviour, and helping to create a safe and inclusive learning environment. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience working within a secondary school setting and contribute to students’ personal development and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students exhibiting challenging behaviour to improve engagement and learning outcomes
- Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and families to implement effective behaviour strategies
- Assist with managing behaviour incidents and encouraging positive behaviour throughout the school
- Support students in developing social, emotional, and communication skills
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive school environment
Ideal Candidate
- Recent graduates or individuals passionate about youth support and education
- Strong communication, patience, and empathy skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
- Experience working with children or young people (paid or voluntary) is beneficial but not essential
- Motivated, reliable, and committed to supporting student wellbeing and development
