Full-Time Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support)
Location: Cardiff CF5
Contract: 5 January 2026 – 17 July 2026 (with potential for extension)
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:15pm
Pay: £90 per day (pay increase in April)

Are you a compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic individual who loves supporting young people to achieve their best? We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a KS3 pupil in a welcoming mainstream secondary school in Cardiff CF5. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting difference in a pupil’s educational journey while joining a supportive, friendly school community.

You will enjoy:

We aim to have you fully cleared and familiar with the school before Christmas so you can meet the team and begin the new term with confidence. Trial days will take place during the weeks commencing 8th and 15th December, so availability during this period is preferred.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored 1:1 support to help a pupil with additional learning needs to:

  • Access learning in a way that matches their individual needs
  • Build confidence, independence, and social skills
  • Engage positively in lessons and classroom routines
  • Work effectively towards personalised learning plans created by teachers and SEN staff

Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (support available if needed)
  • EWC (Education Workforce Council) registration – guidance provided
  • Two recent references from employers or relevant roles

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
