Location: South Brent
Start Date: January 2026
Hours: Monday–Friday, Full Time (School Hours)
Setting: Alternative Provision / Outdoor Learning Environment

Are you passionate about outdoor learning, hands-on education, and supporting young people to thrive beyond the traditional classroom? We are seeking a committed Outdoor Learning Support Assistant to join a unique and engaging alternative provision in South Brent.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors in all seasons, values experiential learning, and wants to make a meaningful impact on young people who may struggle in mainstream settings. You will play a vital part in helping pupils develop confidence, resilience, social skills, and a strong connection to the natural environment.

The Role

As an Outdoor Learning Support Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils aged 7–16 in outdoor, nature-based activities such as forest school tasks, bushcraft, gardening, team building, farm-based learning, and physical activities

  • Work alongside experienced outdoor educators to deliver structured and purposeful learning sessions

  • Promote emotional regulation, positive behaviour, and engagement through outdoor exploration

  • Encourage independence, problem solving, and teamwork

  • Build trusting, supportive relationships with pupils who may present with SEMH needs, ASD, communication difficulties, or behavioural challenges

  • Maintain a safe, calm, and nurturing environment throughout the day

This is a highly hands-on, practical role that involves being outdoors for the majority of the day and working closely with a small group of pupils who benefit from alternative approaches to learning.

Requirements

We are looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys working outdoors in all weather conditions

  • Has experience supporting children or young people, ideally with SEND or SEMH needs

  • Is calm, patient, and confident supporting pupils with varied emotional and behavioural needs

  • Can use positive behaviour strategies and remain composed in challenging situations

  • Works well as part of a small, dedicated team

  • Is passionate about experiential learning, the outdoors, and holistic development

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
