Behaviour Support Mentor

A Pupil Referral Unit in Rochdale are looking to recruit a Behaviour Support Mentor to support students with social, emotional and mental health needs.

The School;

The school is an Ofsted Good School that has less than 100 pupils. The school caters for various additional needs such as; ADHD, ASC and Social and Emotional Difficulties. It is easily accessible from Oldham and Manchester and has good transport links for non drivers. This school has a supportive ethos and promotes social and emotional development for all of its students.

The Role;
You will be working on a full time basis which can lead to opportunities to progress to a permanent position. The students are KS1/KS2 age and can pose challenging behaviour due to their additional needs, therefore resilience, patience and understanding are traits required for the successful applicant. You will assist them with class inclusion on a day to day basis, ensuring their engagement and focus on their work, whilst managing behaviour.

  • Full time position
  • Pay expectation for the day £57-63 dependant on experience
  • Assisting day to day classroom support and assisting with behaviour
  • Students age range 4-11
  • Developing good relationships with pupils
  • Encouraging students to interact with other students within the classroom and activities led by the teacher

You will need:

  • Prior experience working with SEN/ Behaviour (Youth workers/ Support workers are ideal)
  • Relevant training (Team-Teach)
  • Available to work full-time school hours (8.30-3.30)
  • A patient and calm approach to behaviour management
