The Role:
The role of a Behaviour Support Mentor (BSM) is key to creating an inclusive, high-quality learning environment for all pupils. Using a consistent, solution-focused and pupil-centred approach, you will work collaboratively with colleagues and key stakeholders to champion best practices that put pupils at the heart of everything we do.
As a BSM, you’ll respond swiftly and effectively to challenges affecting wellbeing and safety, helping to remove barriers to learning and promoting progress, personal ownership, and leadership among pupils.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support pupils with behavioural, emotional, and social needs using consistent and solution-focused strategies
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to implement individual behaviour plans
- Encourage pupil engagement, independence, and progress through tailored interventions
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs
- A strong understanding of behaviour as communication and a commitment to inclusive practice
- Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff
- A calm, patient, and proactive attitude with a genuine passion for supporting young people
- Must be Team Teach trained

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
