SEMH Support Assistant

SEMH Support Assistant – Behaviour & Mental Health School
Southampton
£14.30 per hour

Teaching Personnel are recruiting SEMH Support Assistants to work in specialist schools in Southampton supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH).

Many students have EHCPs and require additional support with behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning.

The role

  • Supporting students on a 1:1 or small group basis

  • Helping manage behaviour in a positive and structured way

  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils

  • Encouraging engagement in lessons

We are looking for candidates with experience in:

  • Schools or education

  • Youth work

  • Care or residential support

  • Sports coaching

  • Camp America or mentoring roles

Requirements

  • Available minimum 4 days per week

  • Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply

  • Strong communication and resilience

This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with behavioural and emotional challenges.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
