Behaviour Support Assistant
Job description
This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...
A primary school in Harrogate (HG1) are looking for a TA to occupy a Behaviour Support role across a number of yeargroups until at least Christmas 2020. If you are experienced in dealing with challenging behaviour then this could be the role for you.
The school have a number of boys across Years 4-6 who often exhibit challenging behaviour, which will not be helped by such a long break from school. Therefore, in order to manage the return to school the SLT have identified that someone with experience in dealing with challenging children is needed to provide extra support, initially for the first term of next year. This role will require someone who can work flexibly across different classes depending on where they are most needed. Of course portions of this role will be similar to conventional TA work, focussing closely on these children to make sure they are concentrating and behaving in class. Experience of supporting challenging behaviour, in any capacity, is therefore essential as the school need someone who won’t be phased by tackling bad behaviour in the KS2 age range.
The school would also favour someone who has experience in any support worker or pastoral roles in the past. This because some of the children have very challenging home lives, and therefore it is important to form strong relationships in school so that they are comfortable in a school environment again. This would also serve as good preparation for the more challenging behaviour they can sometimes exhibit, and how to avoid potentially difficult situations. A background in the care industry, pastoral, or support work would be well received by school for this reason.
If this sounds like the role for you then apply where indicated and we will be in touch!
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training.
