Behaviour Support Assistant

Job description

We are currently recruiting for Mindfulness mentors to work in schools in the West Sussex area on a long term and casual basis. This is in response to the growing demand for support due to the covid-19 outbreak and the need for specialist intervention and support for young people facing challenges adapting back into the school environment. The schools range from alternative provisions, to specialist schools catering for children with a variety of needs ranging from PMLD, SEMH to Behavioural Needs. You will be expected to work with a variety of ability and age levels. If you have recently graduated with a Psychology or counselling degree, and have a passion for working with young people with SEMH and behavioural needs, please apply on the details below.

Please be aware that all applicants will be subject to background checks and will need a current DBS certificate (update service registered). Teaching Personnel can support your application should this be required.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am-3.30pm approximately, but you may be offered additional duties and responsibilities outside of these hours.

Schools require on and off support throughout the year depending on student intake and staffing needs, so there is always opportunity for contract extension and permanent roles for staff who are a great asset to the school.

The ideal Educator

The ideal candidate will have an outgoing and resilient personality and be able to work on their own initiative in regards to ensuring that health and safety procedures are met as well as the welfare of the children. You will ideally have experience of working in an SEN setting, but applications will be judged on an individual basis. Knowledge of de-escalation strategies and team teach/moving and handling training is desirable, but not essential as we can provide training through our CPD academy.

If you are interested in applying for this position, please forward a copy of your CV to Louis Harris using the details attached.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
