Are you a classroom assistant looking for more experience? Do you have a passion for supporting students with behavioural difficulties that may be affecting their academic attainment?
This school in the Wirral area are looking for a new Behaviour Support Assistant to aid in the teaching and support of students experiencing behavioural difficulties which may be causing them to fall behind their peers. The opportunity is a temporary one but for the right candidate it could become permanent in the new academic year.
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting and working alongside regular classroom teachers to ensure a smooth delivery for lessons, monitoring and supporting the behaviour of students with behavioural difficulties from youth work environments, students in residential care and students struggling with Social and Emotional Mental Health needs. The successful candidate will also be responsible for working alongside SEN coordinators and school senior leaders to organise and participate in planned one-on-one and small group intervention and pastoral support, as well as providing programmes of work outside of class designed to promote positive behaviour, raise self esteem and encourage attainment. Above all the candidate must be a constant positive role model for vulnerable students and always strive for a productive and professional relationship between themselves and students.
We would like to see applications from candidates with the following experience:
- Supporting young people with Social and Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Supporting young people from youth work backgrounds
- Supporting young people from or in residential care
- Classroom assistance experience in another capacity e.g. teaching assistant, learning support assistant
- Passion for supporting vulnerable students

The school is in a great location, as candidates who drive will be able to access it via the M53, which links to many areas in the city centre. There also a number of options for candidates using public transport.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
