Behaviour Support Assistant - Wigan

A large mixed comprehensive Secondary school in the Wigan LEA are seeking to recruit a Behaviour Support Assistant ahead of the new academic year (September 2018). With a higher influx of students joining in September than usual, the school wish to bolster their team of Behaviour Support Assistants to cater for students that have been identified as requiring additional support.

Behaviour Support Assistant;

  • Supporting individual pupils who display challenging behaviour across all subject areas including; Maths, English and Science.
  • 12 month temporary position, with the potential of securing a permanent position dependent on funding.
  • Working with pupils on a 1-to-1 basis and in small groups to promote positive behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Previous experience working with pupils with additional learning needs or those who display challenging behaviour is desirable.
  • Earn up to £1000-£1200 per month.

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will be tasked with working specifically alongside children in classes that find it difficult to engage and can lose focus and concentration easily. You will be a positive role model to the pupils and will be required to promote positive behaviour management which will not only benefit the individual that you are supporting, but their peers in class as well. It is integral that you are able to build strong lasting relationships with students and have a 'firm but fair' approach when dealing with challenging behaviour.

Our client Secondary school is larger than the national average with approximately 900 pupils on roll. The number of pupils that have Special Educational Needs and/or have been given an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) is well above the national average.

Located between Hindley and Westhoughton, the school is just a short drive away from the A577 and has an abundance of public transportation links to surrounding areas; Bolton, Salford and Wigan.
