Behaviour Support Assistant – Portsmouth

Full-time | Term-time only | Start ASAP

We’re looking for a Behaviour Support Assistant to join a welcoming, inclusive school in Portsmouth. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a team that believes every child deserves the opportunity to succeed, no matter what challenges they face.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting students with behavioural and emotional needs, helping them stay focused and engaged in class.

  • Working one-to-one or in small groups to build trust, boost confidence, and encourage positive choices.

  • Collaborating closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to create a supportive, consistent environment.

  • Celebrating small wins every day – because progress comes in all shapes and sizes.

  • Maintaining and upholding all safeguarding policies and protocols.

  • Someone with empathy, resilience, and a genuine desire to help young people thrive.

  • Great communication and a calm, consistent approach – even when things get a bit tough.

  • Experience working with children or young people (in a school, youth work, or care setting).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
