Teaching Assistant - SEMH

Portsmouth Area
£13.75 per hour | Term Time Only

Teaching Personnel is working closely with a specialist school in the Portsmouth area to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Supporting pupils on a one-to-one or small group basis

  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies

  • Assisting the teacher in delivering structured and engaging lessons

  • Creating a calm, consistent environment that supports learning and wellbeing

  • Supporting the implementation of individual behaviour or learning plans

Who We’re Looking For:

  • A caring and resilient individual who genuinely wants to support young people

  • Excellent communication skills and a calm, consistent approach

  • Ability to build strong, positive relationships with pupils and colleagues

  • Comfortable working with behaviours that can be challenging

  • Previous experience in SEMH or SEND settings is beneficial but not essential – Teaching Personnel provides full training

Role Details:

  • Location: Portsmouth and surrounding areas

  • Contract: Term Time Only

  • Pay: £13.75 per hour

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
