• 1:1 behaviour support role in Key Stage 2 (Year 3)
• Full time (8.30am – 4pm)
• SEN School Okehampton 
• Mid/ Late April 2021 start

An average sized SEN school is seeking additional support for one of their pupils in the Year 3 class. Coming from a challenging background, the pupil has behavioural needs and the Head Teacher is ideally seeking a positive role model to work on a 1:1 basis with them to improve their behaviour.

The start date for the role would be as soon as possible, as at the minute a general teaching assistant within school is providing the support for the child. The Head Teacher is looking for a support assistant who can commit to the role for the rest of the academic year, with the potential of a school contract in the next academic year. This pupil thrives from routine and for the stability of the child, the Head Teacher has stated that ideally, they would be looking for the 1:1 support to continue for the rest of their time at the primary school.

. The school is a welcoming place that provides a safe and positive learning environment. Children enjoy going to school and are motivated by their successes. Pupils behaviour is good, the respect the views of others and pupils have a well-developed understanding the school core values.

Key responsibilities and requirements for this teaching assistant role will include:

• Supporting a pupil with behavioural needs on a 1:1 basis, in order to support their learning
• Taking direction from class teachers, SLT and senior support staff and completing tasks to a high level
• Have patience and a caring and understanding nature
• Experience de-escalating situations of behavioural issues
• Be able to use own initiative and act accordingly without having to be directed
• Be able to work full-time from mid/ late March 2021 for the rest of the academic year at least

The Head Teacher aims to shortlist and interview by Friday 29th April 2021; ideally the Head Teacher aims to carry out social distanced interviews however this may be done via a video call.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
