Behavioural Support Assistant – PRU School, Liverpool

A Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Liverpool is seeking a compassionate and committed Behavioural Support Assistant to join their dedicated team. The school provides a nurturing and inclusive environment for students who have experienced difficulties in mainstream education, focusing on helping them overcome challenges and reach their full potential.


The Role

The Behavioural Support Assistant will play a vital role in supporting students with behavioural and emotional needs. Key responsibilities include:

  • Implementing trauma-informed practices to foster a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Delivering one-to-one and group interventions to help students manage their behaviour and emotions.
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and personal development.
  • Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to design and implement effective support strategies.
  • Applying positive behaviour management techniques to support students through daily challenges.
  • Motivating students to work towards academic and personal goals.
  • Monitoring progress and adapting support plans to meet individual needs.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience or understanding of trauma-informed approaches and behavioural support.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people who have struggled in mainstream education.
  • High levels of empathy, resilience, and patience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to remain calm and build rapport in challenging situations.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
