About the Role:
A forward-thinking and inclusive mainstream secondary school in Brierfield is seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join their pastoral team from April 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people, promoting positive behaviour, and helping students overcome barriers to learning.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support to students who may display challenging behaviour or require emotional and social development guidance.
- Working closely with the pastoral team, SENCO, and teaching staff to implement behaviour strategies and support plans.
- Helping maintain a calm, positive and safe learning environment both inside and outside the classroom.
- Supporting de-escalation, restorative approaches, and consistent behaviour routines across the school.
- Building strong, trusting relationships with students to help them re-engage positively with school life.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience supporting young people in a school, youth work, residential or SEN setting (desired but not essential).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly.
- A calm, proactive and patient approach when responding to challenging behaviours.
- Someone reliable, resilient and passionate about making a difference to young people’s lives.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
